I absolutely adore pictures. A few months ago, I spent a couple weeks with my grandparents and found a new love for pictures. We spent hours looking through old photos and telling stories about each one. I cherish being able to put a visual to words. In the midst of trying to find out what I could do to passionately share all my world race stories, I figured that there’s no better way than to put together a scrapbook! Each month, I’m going to release a series of pictures to help encapsulate my time here! I can’t wait for y’all to see this!!
This was the morning of September 2nd!! just a few hours before I boarded my plane to Georgia for the next four months. Look at that strategically packed 50-pound backpack:) my goodness I should have packed less haha!
The first look at my tent in the Georgia woods! whoo hoo!
This is the view from my tent each morning! so precious to be able to see the sun peak through the trees as I start my day!
Welcome to the pavillion! This is where we eat all of our meals together and spend most of our free time.
This is what our breakfast table typically looks like! empty plates because we ate too fast, peanut butter because we eat it by the spoonfuls (just world race things), wild flowers because one of our new favorite activities is to pick flowers, and LOTS OF COFFEE:)
Here’s a lovely picture of me with an egg head! My team leader, ellie, cracks me up (haha get it!)
This is what laundry days look like! The first bucket is full of soapy water to get the stink out and then we rinse the soap out in a second bucket:)
Then I wring out my clothes really good and hang them up on these lovely laundry lines:)
so grateful for our shipping container showers!
no really… we LOVE them a lot! which only calls for more pictures with the showers!
porta potty life! I took a picture of them while the sun was setting so they looked more glorious:)
FITNESS HIKE. wow. this seems like such a throw back but within the first week in Georgia, we had to do 2.2 miles under 38 minutes with all 50-pounds in our backpack – and the majority of it was uphill. it was quite the experience!!
This was my teammate, Jen, and I right after we competed the hike! Big smiles because we did it!!
This is my team leader ellie miller… aka EL MILLAAAAA!! what a woman! She has the lucky opportunity to lead my team for the first four months of our race. overwhelmingly thankful for her:)
MEET TEAM ALIGN!! these lovely ladies! my heart loves them so deeply! what a group!!
This is how we celebrate birthdays!!!
Early morning sunrises are so beautiful here!
Our team went exploring through the woods! Here’s right after I attempted to jump over a very small stream and managed to get mud all over my pants.
SNACKS! Sometimes you’ve got to get creative when you don’t have access to a grocery store! Our squad mentor brought us back some goodies!! I can switch it up between whether I dip my animal crackers in peanut butter or nutella;)
Remember those beautiful pictures of laundry I showed you earlier, well this is what happens when it rains on our laundry lines – just gotta move all your clothes into your little tent to dry. kinda funny.
Here are all the ladies on my squad!! We set the dinner table for the guys one night and we were pretty proud of ourselves haha 🙂
Then I chopped my hair off because why not !!
We spent an afternoon chopping up fire wood with a log splitter and I LOVED IT!!
Right before Kaylin (center) shaved her hair off!! We had to take a goofy team picture with her hair !!
FRIENDS !!
MORE FRIENDS!!
It’s quite cold here in the mornings;) we often wear our blankets as warm skirts during breakfast.
Ready for church!! dressed up with coffee in hand!
Welcome to church! the highlight of my week! precious precious precious!!
GAP D! this is my entire squad! I am blessed to know them! can’t imagine this past month without them!
Love this. I also like to see pictures to complete the story! Thank you for sharing.
Love! Love!
